    Thanks for the tip on LineageOS. Will give it a shot. Have an old Samsung Note thing at home which takes a minute to respond to a tap.

    Followup to this- I just ordered a couple of Kindles. The Mi Pads look nicer, but they're twice the cost and I'm after largely disposable tablets where I don't care if they get stepped on. Ditto anything from Huawei or Lenovo. And I couldn't be bothered trawling the computer centres for dodgy generics.

    I have the Amazon kindle - perfect for kids and good price point. There's a few new ones on Carousel selling cheap.
