Any recommendations on new fridge-freezer options? Looking for recommendations where:
- It's as quiet as possible
- Can hinge the doors on the left side
- Fridge section at the top; freezer section at the bottom
Thanks

The Consumer Council has a magazine called "Choice" which is a local version of "Consumer Reports". Their issues can be ordered online and they have a website: https://echoice.consumer.org.hk However, it is only in Chinese language.
Their last review of refrigerators was in 2013 though, but the good thing is that older issues are free to download: https://echoice.consumer.org.hk/issue/442
The review starts on page 4, you'll probably get a rough idea what rated well from the pictures and the tables as the product names are in English.
(On page 9, the table column "14" is "level of quietness", they seem all to be the same, with the Fortress, Fisher & Paykel, Hitachi, and Siemens products reviewed being top 5 stars. Interestingly, Sharp was lowest at 4 stars.)
The magazine also did a survey last year in Hong Kong asking views about the brands of home appliances. The results for refrigerators:
- Durability (Lowest to Highest): Siemens, LG, Toshiba, Whirlpool, Mitsubishi Electric, Samsung, Hitachi, Sharp, Panasonic
- Product Satisfaction (Lowest to Highest): LG, Whirlpool, Toshiba, Samsung, Siemens, Hitachi, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic, Sharp
Bought a new fridge about two years ago and went with a Hitachi, and have been happy with it. It has the freezer compartment on the bottom. I think I went with it because it had a high energy efficiency rating and also because it fit the space and didn't have extraneous features. I think you should concentrate on a few trusted brands and then go to a store to narrow it down.
