Electrical Question: Electric Light fell into Aquarium water, RCD protection?

    looking at the close up photo of the light fixture it appears to say 240 volt

    I see. That means that the AC adapter does not modify the voltage, it only provides isolation. For a light which sits on top of an aquarium that seems a safe thing to do.

    THis light uses a Philips PL compact fluorescent bulb. Don't all fluorescent bulb use alternating current (AC)?

    As I understand, Philips PL bulbs do not have integrated ballast. Since I don't see a ballast on the light fixture, I think the "AC adaptor" contains the ballast.
