Wan Chai computer Centre has many shops carrying it. Even the local computer store down near Cosco tower carries it.

    Selling for about HK$780.

Indeed, this and many other alternatives are available in any of the computer centres (Wan Chai Computer Centre, 298 in Wan Chai, Golden Arcade in Sham Shui Po). The one you mention seems to have no network connection so you have to mess around copying content onto memory sticks which seems quite tedious but I guess that's why it's fairly cheap.

The idea is you use your USB external hdd, and then plug it into the WD box, which in itself plugs into your TV via HDMI.

I have one.. it works great. Only really makes sense if you are going to use the HDMI Connection and play HD content (mkv files). If you are just planning on watching AVI files then there are many other cheaper options available.

There are many China made products available, with built in hard drives and such. I'm guessing they would range between 400-1000 depending on the capacity. Have a loot around the computer centre.

Sure, I understand what it does. My point was merely to compare it to the alternative of getting a slightly more expensive network-enabled device which enables you to play the content directly across your network rather than having to transfer it via external memory.

So do you have any recommendations for such a network-enabled device? (Wired is fine, wireless not necessary)
