Where to find replacement (rechargable) batteries?

Anyone know where to find batteries to replace the rechargeables in an electric toothbrush? Its not the standard AA / AAA, but hopefully there's a place in Ap Liu St or similar that carries these?? I dont mind having to solder it in, but would rather not toss the whole thing in the bin if its just a battery that's gone.

Try the mentioned Apliu street, there are some shops that specialize in batteries.

Or even your local street stall - there are many places around that have hundreds of type of bulbs and batteries. Just open you eyes, and ask.

If it's an electric toothbrush, you should to figure out what batteries go into it before blundering around Ap Lui Street. It's quite possible that the batteries are of a specialist size and shape that will be unavailable in Kowloon. I write as someone who has spent many hours there looking for specific rechargeable cells.

Toothbrushes take Nicads. They're a bit unusual- Ap Lui stores tend to all copy each other and carry the same NiMH or Li-ion cells. You cannot safely substitute these other chemistries for your Nicads. The charger of a toothbrush will kill NiMH and probably cause Li-ion to catch fire.

thanks jgl, thats the same site that inspired me originally. I thnk the safest thing to do is to simply extract the existing battery and take a walk into the shops asking for a replacement. In the worst case if nothing turns up then I've got nothing to lose.
