Palm programme -- can you help?

I have been using Palm Desktop software foir my address book and diary, for many years. My handheld is out of action and information is still on my computer. Is there any way I can backup this information, in case my computer go caput on me? Better still, which is the easiest way to back everything on my computer? I heard I could do that with a USB because I do not store than much on my computer.,
