    on mine?
    - we dont have a modem (HKBN 100M fiber direct package)
    - we have a router that i installed, and there is definitely no limiting to uploads or downloads
    - and as mentioned before, the PC's upload blazingly fast, while mine is stuck around 250K max upload on whats supposed to be 100M

also complicating the situ is that I have a time capsule and I am using its wifi as my modem one would go on and off and didnt have a good range. and it also makes printer sharing better

    its for everything...
http uploads(safari, firefox), FTP/SFTP (cyberduck, transmit), dropbox, etc
its not application related, has to be OS related. but cant find any settings that look like its limiting uploads.

Basic TCP networking, when downloading shit your computer needs to send ACK packets back to the source. If you are uploading at the same time, and the upload is saturating the link capacity then your downloads will be slowed by natural congestion control.

Solution is to rate limit the uploads to below your maximum upload capacity.

    thanks for that -

I just tried throttling it to 50Kb/s leaving 10K/bs

    made no difference..

actually I am feeling very jealous of virago's virile connection...... 400K up loads! yes please!

is it my connection? god forbid I actually have to call PCCW tech support!! hahaha

call PCCW, tell them you've been a customer for x years and request a free upgrade.
I did, and I went from 8M to 100M for free

ACKs can take up to 60% of the download bandwidth speed in upload traffic.

Though there is a point that your Internet connection is just so slow that you aren't really going to be able to do multiple transfers at the same time.

So whilst you could try 40/20 or 30/30 it's going to be terrible for both processes no matter what.

I've been reading through these forums:

    http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/board,26.0.html

    And linked documentation:

thanks robert on the phone to pccw now - they say its a 6 meg connection and thats the fastest I can get in my area....

but is 64kb/sec upload normal for a 6m connection??? .. they say they will send some one to check....

what kind of speeds can I expect?

    thanx
