Time Capsule & PCCW netvigator modem/router ...help?

    Hi,

I want to replace my old netvigator modem/router with the new Time capsule 2TB.

when I phone PCCW, and asked if they could replace the modem/router with a pure modem - they said it is the same device. In which case, does anyone know how i can turn off the wireless functionality on the netvigator modem/router and just use it as a modem?

..or would I need to buy a different modem altogether?

welcome all comments, especially from those who use Apple Time Capsule as their router with PCCW netvigator service.

    thanks

Just ignore the wireless function on the PCCW box. Plug your wireless router into Port 2 (Now TV goes in port 1) and off you go. I can't see that the brand of the wireless router would make any difference.

If you're paying PCCW for the wireless service then stop doing so.

I was flabbergasted to find out they were charging me $20 a month for this feature to be turned on when its actually included in the modem they supply all ready!!!!!!!

You can ask them to provide a modem only and stop their expensive wifi rip off... As we switched to Fiber 300 MBit, the rent of the combined modem/router would have been more expensive than before. So they put a modem only on the wall.
There you can hook up any router (Apple TimeCapsule, D-Link, Netgear, .....) as you like.
To turn of the wifi in the netvigator router login to it with username = user and password = user.
Then go to the relevant setting and switch it off.
