PCCW Broadband cheaper with Passport instead of HKID

I am moving and my old PCCW landline + broadband (+Now/eyeCrap) contract is over anyway. So I went to a PCCW shop today, signed up for $205 for a 100Mb broadband line for the new place. I was on 30Mb for the past 2 years and it was top notch.

A few minutes ago the guys at the shop called me and asked if I'd have a passport. If I'd use that instead of my HKID, it would be $177 instead of $205. Any idea what they are talking about? I can't imagine they have a 24 months package for visitors...

I think they will ask you to pay one-off for that 24 month package..

Also, typically you can negotiate the 24 months down to 18 months at the same price... at the end they keep the price the same (at least they did for me).

Seems using my passport number allows them to sign me up as a NEW customer, so I get a better package. My phone line will be cheaper too.

Not bad considering that I already signed and left.
