AIRPORT EXPRESS

Hi

I would appreciate any help offered, I'm not very computer literate so bear with me.

The problem is in China when I'm in the office & hostel.

I'm using a SONY VAIO laptop running windows 7.

When I'm in the office, my Sony is able to connect to the internet with a wireless network.
My colleague next to me, uses a desktop and uses the same internet connection but is using a internet cable.
I went and unplugged his internet cable & plugged into my Airport Express & followed all the setups & consequently my Iphone & Ipad were able to connect wireless through the Airport Express.

When I'm staying in the hostel, my Sony connects to the internet by: (pic1)
1) Connecting through a Wireless network first and then
2) through a broadband connection

When I tried to set up the Airport Express, I wasn't able to connect or get it to work properly, I've tried a lot of ways & still it doesn't work.
I've tried express lane, tried a lot of the advice given by apple but still with no prevail.
