Google opening page in Catonese only

whenever I try opening Google.com, it opens page in Cantonese only. I need to go and change Google in English.

because both langague has same URL, I can't even add to my favorite / home page.

Is there any setting which can help me change this ?

How do you know they are in cantonese?

Try bookmarking the URL with these parameters:

http://www.google.com.hk/?lr=lang_en&hl=en

If you're talking about the top right search bar and assuming you're on a PC, then you will need to open the file below and edit the search string:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins\google.xml

Do you have the play store in your bookmarks? The ?lr=lang_en&hl=en parameters should work on all of Google's services; just append that to all your google-related bookmarks.

What's worse is when you're experiencing account log-in difficulties--the work-around pages default to Cantonese (when your IP is located in HK), and there is no English option...

Yes... pretty stupid in my opinion. You have to know the Chinese characters for "change language" and "English" to get anywhere. But then it is a very arrogant company.

Would using https://www.google.com help? (Note that it's https).
