I dont know what and how it gets messed up. But can say that, there are few circumstances like meddling with the connections or netvigator switch repair in ur area etc. during which something goes wrong...

I can only make a good guess about modem being defective...

Try with the netvigator hotline and ask the tech to see whether resetting your router or pinging ur router gets any response...
