Yeah, been floating around for a few days.

They have some developer conference coming up soon where it is rumoured they will introduce Windows 9.

Thank God! Just spent an hour on Skype with my Dad trying to walk him through Windows 8 on his new laptop. Useless bloody OS!

Windows 8 made me switch to Mac OS. Of the last 5 comps I've bought, 3 have been Apple and 2 have been HPs running Win 7.

Windows 8 caused me to not use our shiny new i5 laptop and just upgrade my old Win7 desktop. It is amazing irritating to use.

Hmm... come to think of it I should probably just downgrade the Win8 machine.

I know you can autoboot Win8.1 to the Desktop, but it also seems to need a bloody Microsoft account for you to log in. At least if you're connecting to a Server 2012 home environment.

I think most (or all?) who get Windows 8, upgrade to 8.1 which is seems to work fine.

Are Microsoft doing a similar thing as the Star Trek films, in that they are alternatively good and bad?

I am still on Windows 7 and I will probably stick with it for the next few years - until they force something else on me that I don't need.
