    New laptop recommendations

Anyone knows of any good model out there?
hardware reliable, easy to self-repair, small and light!
What about your experience with phablets?

My previous brand, Fujitsu, left the market.

Very few laptops would be described as "easy to self-repair". And tablets even less so. Instead, look for a brand with good customer service if breakage is a concern, and get an extended warranty that covers accidents. I've had great experiences with Lenovo CS but that was a while back.

what do you require? how would you used it? personal/leisure or business

A laptop with proper keyboard and mouse or a tablet with optional , two very different things? budget? HK$3000 to HK$18000?

will this be your only pc/laptop and do you need it to be portable

Why do you need to open it? I'd second the suggestion of a macbook air. Very robust - mine travels everywhere with me.

I presume the op means, user-option to change ram ( MacBook air have solder to the pcb) and HDD, without breaking the bank in future upgrades or selling current one for peanuts in future

future upgrade options will allow a bit longevity for the laptops, as storage and ram are important aspects to some , while not so important to others.

I am talking about a lifespan of 6-10 years.
    Not sure air offers that.

Not only ram upgrade but all kind of things, easy access to HDD, keyboard exchange, display, even frame parts
I used to buy parts on ebay and exchange them.

If you need one immediately then - loads of a selection at the usual suspects, if you can wait a month or two there is a new range coming from ASUS which included a larger updates version ( and very thin ) of the T10 tablet and detachable keyboard. It's larger and more laptop size and thin like the Air but runs Win8 on a fast chipset.
