Now that metal is coming to mac, what advantanges are there if you have iris pro macbook pro?

Lots! Metal is intended to improve gaming on iOS and OS X. The beta of El Capitan is already seeing a performance increase.

- Metal is a lower level rendering API and more lightweight than OpenGL. This means less overhead and higher potential for graphics performance.

- Metal isn't GPU specific, so the benefits for Intel Iris Pro are also benefits for AMD and Nvidia GPUs.

- The GPU can now do more without the CPU getting in the way of requests. More can be sent to the GPU. Less stalling and more graphics rendering.
