    Village House - NO INTERNET

We have no internet whatsoever. Not even a measly 4mb! We cancelled our previous internet broadband contract with Pccw due to relocation of work. We're in a village. Now we're back and they say "there are not enough resources" meaning we have to wait for God know how long, for someone to cancel their contract before i even get a look in. Oh and i have been told there is a quene but he wouldn't tell me where we are in the quene. So literally we could be waiting x no of years. What i can't get round my head is in this day and age how could this be??! And what about the new housing development just literally 20 yards from us? So nobody there gets internet?? Any ideas what we can do? I am about to pull my hair out and i think the kid is climbing the wall. I have called pccw and i have shown up in person and they have been as helpful as ¥&#?!%. Please someone tell me there is something i can do.

Yup move somewhere else otherwise you'll have to stick with mobile broadband.

It is well documented how crappy the internet service is in a lot of villages, and how PCCW are unwilling to commit the resources to rectifying the situation.

I don't mean to be harsh, but if you had done some research before you moved, this situation would not have arisen.

4G internet shared to Wifi would be the obvious solution in the interim, no?

No joke, neither of us were aware of the internet problem in villages. People warned us re safety issues, break in's, dogs and mosquitos and lack of transport, blah blah blah, nobody said one word about internet. We moved in and readily got internet straight away no problem, albeit it was only 8mb but enough to keep us sane.
Now when we google internet problem in villages we get the picture. Jeez they really should blow up the pieces that i have read and stick them on front doors of all village houses as warnings. Which is what i might do for the potential buyers round the corner to let them know what they're getting themselves into. A handful of posters and bottle of wine and off i will go. At least that's my weekend sorted. Husband will be happy to know i will use less data so that he can watch his Breaking Bad and all else that isn't good for him. I can't believe it has come down to this "oh who gets more internet data this month" in this day and age!
Yes both hubby and i have upgraded our internet data on our phone to the max and on top of that, we have taken out another sim for internet data for our helper and kid who is suddenly addicted to youtude and heavens for bid he doesn't get to watch it. I can already foresee a long summer ahead if i don't get him out.
I used to subscribe to uktvhongkong. Does anyone know if a sim of 10gb be enough to run it?

Yeah check out what speed you get for 4g round there. Can be faster than broadband anyway. It was for me on lamma. I got speedtest of 2-3mb with my broadband 15ish with smartone 4g

Is there anyway a community can gather together to get broadband installed, or offer to pay the costs to upgrade the main line?

I'm using smartone unlimited 4G and I'm very happy with it but not with the price, it's expensive (650/month including a new mobile phone installment). I regularly use 30-50GB per month and probably much more sometimes but I stopped checking the statement now.

The speed is good. I have had 100mbps and 300mbps and basically for what I do, the speed is the same. I never achieved those 100mbps speeds anyway. I'm on about 1-1.5MBps solid which I think equates to 8-12mbps. The fastest I've probably seen was 2-3MBps with a stable fiber line. So it's not that much slower. One thing I am noticing is that if I'm downloading big files, it will slow the Internet down for others.

Speed test varies from about 20-60mbps.

Have you tried another company than PCCW? I remember I used another company when I was living in a village house. Or at least I THINK I do.
