    Updating my Macbook Pro SSD

    Hello,

I have a 2015 macbook pro SSD, which currently has 256 gb SSD. I want to upgrade it too 512 Gb. Anyone know where I can get this done from?

    Thank you

He'd have to figure out what kind of SSD it is first, recent macbooks probably don't use 2.5" SATA.

Very high chance its M2 pcie based, not sata based. Can be replaced but compatibility will be a big issue as firmware restrictions will be in place..

Owc usually offers apple certified upgrades..

It uses PCe flash based storage, if you don't want Apple to do the upgrade you can get OWC kit and do it yourself.

I thought the SSD was M.2, but isn't seems to be a Mac specific standard. So your SSP whatever SSD will most likely not fit.

This. But it ain't cheap so you're better off getting a 1TB external Thunderbolt drive and dumping your nonessential onto it.

I agree, but the OP doesn't seem to use this logic.

    Appreciate the input guys.

Can I run boot camp windows from an external thunderbolt drive?

And if I was to update the SSD to 512 gb, any idea how much that would cost? Also is Apple the only option for getting my SSD upgraded, or can I go to shops in Wanchai/SSP?

    Thank you
