    I have mixed feelings about Yahoo, they do/have done quite a lot of good stuff for the Internet, such as;

    * public/free API for financial data
    * public/free weather API

    But then, they've also made some terrible decisions and messed up Flickr when they acquired it..

    don't forget to take into account multiple accounts. Also loads of yahoo accounts are probably just spambots.

    If ever a company needed to be euthanized, it's Yahoo in 2016.

    Online chess was another good thing, some players worked hard to achieve good ratings which then were deleted when yahoo ceased chess.

    If you are using Gmail, you can still let Gmail 'pickup' your email from yahoo (using POP3). Other email servers/providers may offer similar solutions, mine certainly does.
