WeChat app eats up too much storage on pad

    2.82 GB documents and data
Been to manage chat scripts and deleted conversations and stuff older than three months
but it did not change a thing
Do I have to delete any Wechat trash folder, just like with pictures taken, to effectively free up space ?

    Thanks

All the voice messages and photos you are sending or receiving are stored indefinitely. Your best bet is to clear the storage in app settings, but then you'll lose all your voice messages etc.

I think Wechat does not give me the option to do that

    Inside wechat

Settings > general > photos, videos & files > uncheck all or which ever you like

There is nothing to choose from, all there is is " auto-download"
    No other options

oh I guess different region have different settings, I'm in china & I have auto DL photos/ videos

    anyways try
settings > general > Manage Storage > click manage storage then manage current wechat history >
    delete whatever you like

Or you could get a 128gb phone since now wechat saves "ALL" inside the phone memory, before there was an option to save them in SD card.

Also you can: use your file browser
    - internal storage
    - tencent
    - micromsg = here you find all your files & downloads inside wechat
