    Internet/Wifi expert ?

    Hello,

Does anyone know any internet/wifi expert I can pay to come to my house to optimise my internet/wifi?

Used HK telecome broadband and a couple of routers but connection sucked.
Then tried Cable TV broadband same with severla routers, much cheaper but connection similar.

Anyone I can pay to come help me to optimise the connection/wifi and give advice on what I should do?

    Agreed, location is important.

However - before we go down this route, suggest you do the following:

    1. Connect your computer/laptop DIRECTLY to the modem using an ethernet CABLE
    2. Run speedtests, e.g. OFCA Broadband Performance Test https://www.speedtest.net/ / https://fast.com/
    - This will give you the MAXIMUM you can possibly achieve on your home network
    - If you are not happy with these numbers, nothing can be done downstream, i.e. you'll need to contact your ISP
    - Feel free to share results from these tests, we can take it from there.

    Internet/Wifi expert ?

It's a bit early to think about paying and given the covid situation it will be very difficult to get anyone to come out and would you want them in the house anyway? That aside there is some good advice here your problem like all problems needs more information before it can be addressed and the question of speed is paramount you might also like to tell us what you believe you are paying for i.e. what does your contract say with regard to the speed of your modem, is it for instance fibre optic or old fashioned copper, if fibre you should be looking at 100MBps+ depending on your contract for example mine is 1000MBps and a direct connection via an ethernet cable delivers in the high 900s wifi from the same modem through a Linksys Velop router delivers in the low 400s depending on time of day, number of active users and other factors.
In my experience HKT deliver the best service but you seem to have changed from them to another provider, your choice but all of the above still applies. It would also help to know which router you are using and the speed, some routers throttle the speed from the modem because they can't handle it.
Looks like there's plenty of help here now it is up to you to provide the information so that we can help you further.

a networking specialist will cost you at least 5K to 8K... and generally unless you have a big house or doing high throughput doing things right is not needed or worth it. Unless you are a perfectionist. getting a new ISP line, LTE connection or replacing your router is cheaper... or trying other stuff... or maybe try the dumb shit people suggest in this forum, maybe some of it make your network usable.

Generally few people actually want things to be right, most just want big spec figures, (10GBit, Internet, high speed test, 3Gbit, 17MIMO, WIFI Router, 8G etherchanel etc).... whether achieve those speeds, are stable etc are not worth it.... and generally I would advise you not to give a shit about your crap internet, use your phone's LTE and be done, go and have a glass of wine and accept your internet is like and old car, it has personality and sometimes it is not in the mood....

Listening to you, you don't need a networking engineer, you won't pay and won't be happy after either.

    1. What internet speed did you sign up for
    2. Have you done an internet speed test, what speeds did it say you have
    3. When you say wifi, what is wrong with it, are you having issues of getting wifi signal in your bedroom etc
    4. how big is your apartment
