    I have tried

    WiTopia
    OverPlay
    Unblock Us
    Tunnel Bear
    Strong VPN

Unblock Us was ok, but for live TV Strong VPN yields the best results.
One thing I note about Strong VPN is that you can't switch between cities for free. It allows x amount a month free, but after that you have to pay. I think that is a bit annoying.

Already mentioned earlier. 5 switches free a month on my package, and an annoying process. But the OP asked about the UK only.

Review of performance for overplay please? I hate the strongvpn packages.

I'm curious about overplay's speed to UK and Canadian servers.

fwiw I've used swissvpn and it was slow

Overplay...had issues on their UK servers. Just not fast enough. They have smart servers based in Asia.

The smartmode servers routes geographic lookups through our VPN, but tunnels popular video streams through your ISP. This type of selective routing results in better performance for streaming video.

Sadly this did not not work on the UK sites I wanted to use. Never heard back from tech support. They did a remote desktop to my media PC without a successful resolution offered.

Just in case anyone knows any other options that have become available, we live out in a villagey area in the NT, is PCCW 8mb still the only option, or is there some new devilry that can make me some happy magic?

Astrill lets you switch servers for free. Its easy as they have a software for that which can be installed. They have almost 100 different servers.

    PCCW, HK East, over WiFi

I was with PCCW on 8M for the last 5 years and last week they upgraded me for free to 100M. No contracts, no catch....that was nice of them.

Wouldn't it make more sense to use the Government's speed testing service for HK comparisons?

    OFTA Broadband Speed Test
