Question Douyin Verification - Non-Chinese MTP

I am a non-Chinese with permanent HK ID, Mainland Travel Permit (Non-Chinese version, the one with a HAxxxxxxx number).

I need to create and use a Douyin account, for business purposes. I have two mainland mobile phone numbers, both HK 1-card-2-numbers, but also a real and ID verified Chinese number with China Unicom. My passport is one of those without visa requirement, and this is the basis for my Chinese phone number. It is only 9 digits, though, and 18 are needed.

I can get the SMS verification. It asks for my name, and I enter my Chinese name, which it does not complain about. If I enter my Western name, it says the characters are wrong. I tried with both simplified and traditional Chinese.

When I get to the ID number, there is no option to choose passport or other IDs. It seems to want an 18-digit number, like the mainland ID numbers. On the back of my MTP, after the HA is exactly 18 digits. I tried with those also. Cannot.

Is there a way to get ID verified, for non-Chinese, for the Chinse Douyin app/website?

    Thank you.

The usual solution is to hire a Chinese fall guy and use his ID number.

You can find these on Taobao for a few hundred. Same with speeding tickets. Not going to link it, do your own research.

Thank you for the workaround solution.

In that case, I will ask my wife to make an account for me, as she is HK Chinese. She won't use Douyin anyway.

I had hoped there was a proper way I could get my own account, without the shady workarounds.

The problem with this card is no apps are really setup for it yet.
