    AI in creative industries

If all the major publishers were to sign a deal with a few AI systems sharing the publishers' contents with the AI systems for a fixed sum + % of revenue, I believe then AI would really start to take off.

The guardian article is interesting. What struck me was the couple of quotes about AI making the artist and translator feeling empty - it has destroyed their livelihood.

That would perhaps be a more interesting discussion to have here.

Just finished a podcast where a well known asset manager mentioned that they use AI type interfaces to edit their research papers (copy editing) and also have replaced graphics artists for generating cover / hero images for these papers .. (2,3 out of 12 were better at conveying the ideas in the paper than the graphics team was).

we should be grateful to America for banning nVidnia, ChatGPT and other AI services to Hong Kong.

Otherwise, many of us would be without jobs many many months ago.

Brave new world where no one will have a job because we fired everyone who did anything.

Oliver Fiegel, a 47-year-old photographer based in Munich, was reading a German national Sunday newspaper recently when he saw a front-page image that looked strangely off. The image showed a boy chasing a football on a pitch. But some of the wildflowers on the grass floated without stems. Half the goal net was missing. The boy’s hands were misshapen.
Wonder what newspaper that was - have not seen ai generated content in places like that.

For photography its not only AI though - heard many photograpers complain about the "deluge" of open content now that everyone has a camera.

Yeah, but I bet that's how they got their start. "Oh, these new guys shoot without a massive flash exploding over their heads. Rookies!"

AI is already here, regardless of the above. there are so many different models you can use (some even better than ChatGPT) to automate, simplify and accelerate work. It's just Hong Kong is very slow to adopt to new technologies (see fax machines, old taxis's that don't take cards), and the Hong Kong government's inaction to really take the lead in moving the city forward.

The wave will come like a tsunami and most business and government will not be prepared.
    shri and tf19 like this.
