    Windows update crashes Explorer ?

Last night the MS update was a reboot item on a security patch.
This morning Hotmail crashes in IE when attempting to add attachments.

    Anyone having this problem?

you always can do a system restore on your PC, assuming you have XP or Vista.
Better yet! use firefox. IE is dead.

I do use firefox ( shiretoko beta ) but it has problems with hotmail.

I am doing a remove and reinstall of IE7 but was seeing if others have had the same problem today.

Uninstalled and it defaults back to IE6
    Open Hotmail
    Select e mail
    Select attachment - file
    Opens source ---- CRASH

    WTF !!!!

To uninstall IE is how ?
Its embedded in XP so I don't see it in the installed program list at control panel.

It is not possible to uninstall IE.
Microsoft recommends IE 7 over other IE versions.

You may want to try IE 8 beta2 (it's faster than earlier IE versions).
PS: I've had no problems using hotmail with firefox (version- 3.06).

also you may want to do windows update again, see if you missed anything.

if everything fails, you can always do system restore.
    go to programs->accessories->system restore

Just an idea (since I don't use hotmail) - it might be something to do with some attempt to invoke a virus checker on the attachment rather than hotmail itself?

The last Windows update doesn't seem to be quite right - it is causing my machine sometimes to need two attempts to start up, although no apparent problems after the second attempt.

Boris - The file browser box (which is what shows up when you click the Browse button) is a function of XP (not unique to IE).

Does the problem happen only when you try to attach to hotmail?

Does the problem happen if you try to create a reply ( http://www.geoexpat.com/forum/newrep...ote=1&p=319819 ) and attach a file on GeoExpat?

    Shri
    Its IE hotmail unique.

Have reinstalled and will try out after lunch.
The reinstall DID finally me to have a genuine advantage accept after 3 months of it telling me I don't have a REAL copy of windows. It was getting tedious cancelling the window
