They just suck big time. All these barriers to terminate their service and to cynically squeeze a few more $$$ out of you. Shocking!

I was expecting problems after reading peoples experiences on here but had no problems so far. I went to the PCCW store on Queens Road near the escalator and took my last statements and id, got a form, filled it in and asked them to stamp it to say they had received it and they said they would mail it to their HQ. They weren't happy about stamping the form but i said i had heard they were bad to deal with over terminations and i wanted proof they had the completed form.

The customer service called us about 8 days later and confirmed the cut off date and when they would collect the equipment and that is that... as i have already closed the account the payment comes from there is not a lot else that can go wrong i guess.....

This guy dealt with my termination of contract, all via email and very helpful. No forms, no fuss. Drop him a line and you will get this all wrapped up in a few days.

Just want to update this old thread.... to get onto customer service quickly:

Ring 1833833, press 1, put in account number or hk id card, 1 to confirm, then 440 which will get you directly to customer service and then you can ask for a termination form.

Well there are a few shops where you can get the cancellation form in person, fill it in and return it right away, but I have to get the list tomorrow when I go to work, if that's useful for anybody.

That must be a recent change then because when I tried to cancel some services a year of so ago at #1 on your list they spent ages (longer than I had available in my lunch hour) trying, and failing somehow, to get a cancellation form faxed from somewhere else.

Having said that when I tried more recently to cancel some service at shop #3 it was all very simple and straightforward.

Well I suppose that is if they screw up things in Central they will screw up everything, plus the Des Voeux Road shop is one of the biggest (besides Mongkok).

its pretty much the same everywhere. i had the same problems with O2 in the UK (twice!!!). they just make it so difficult and technical to cancel yet will jump through hoops to get you to sign on the contract.

theres always going to be big companies screwing their customers over.

I've got to say that I've found "I've emigrated" is a really good way of getting UK companies, at least, to cancel accounts with no hoops and no attempt at 'retention'. Worked on at least Barclaycard, MBNA and O2...
