    Ballpark figure for Apple RAM?

    Hi,

I'll be in HK in about a month and plan to get a Macbook while I'm there. At the moment I'm comparing prices between getting the RAM upgrade with Apple or just taking my new laptop to Mong Kok/Sham Shui Po once I get it.

Does anybody know roughly how much 4GB (2x2GB) of Mac-compatible RAM would cost? Do stores charge you more if you get them to install it? Is it difficult to install by yourself if you've had no previous experience? I thought it'd be nice to learn how to upgrade things for the future.

Also, what do people do with the old RAM once they take it out? Is it resold? Assuming the tech specs match, would it work if I put it into a Compaq laptop?

    Thanks!

its far cheaper and wiser to get ram upgrades elsewhere. Apples is a premium. shop at cruxial or newegg for best prices, or go to wc/ssp

2gb Kingston generic ram should be about 170 to 190.
