    Anyone here gone i7 yet?

Is it worth it? Is there anything out there that actually utilises its true capability?

If not then I'll just look at the Quads.. I'm going to spec up a beast and see how much it comes too..

    Thinking Q6600 (easily overcloackable)
    4gig DDR3 1200 (have to check this)
ATI 4870X2 (gotta be done! )
Antec P900 case <-- Probably buy this back in UK to save postage
    Antec 1000w PSU
    Dunno about a mobo yet

Also gonna need a monitor <--- Get this back home
    Mouse<--- Razer Mouse
    keyboard <--- Steelseries keyboard
    headset <--- Razer headset

Overkill.. Of course it is!...but I never got me a birthday present last birthday!

Im thinking about OC my Q6600, haven't bothered doing it as of yet.
But lately it's been starting to feel slow, i'm aiming at 3.4Ghz per core, using air only so no extreme OC.

Gonna lapp the cpu for better contact..nope i haven't don it yet shame on me i know.
And i will pipe air from outside the case for better cooling.

Might even submerge it in mineral oil, highly unlikely but if i do i will post some images.

I've never tried submerging a system...does it make a big difference?

Is it better than water cooling? I might use water cooling on this rig as i've not used it before.. I've built it for my mates machine back home (we overclocked his AMD blackbox edition from 2.6 to 3.8 and it never went above 60 degrees )

I'm still interested to hear if anyone has any good feedback about i7 processors.

    Hello Discobay

If you come out of the MTR and Golden Arcade entrance is diagonally across the road, where do you head for Godown?

    Thanks

Walk to the GA entrance then past it and to the left so that the entrance is on your right. Go one block and turn right then just past the street news stand is the Godown entrance. Go up the steps then take the escalator.

Kenbo: Well i never tried it either, but from what i can see submerged systems has awsome performance.

ANd you wont need to lapp the cpu, gpu and waterblocks which is a pain in the ass.

    AMEN TO THAT!!

Water cooling is such a pain in the arse to fit.. I would do it for the cooling quality but if there's an easier method, I'd happily look into it.
