Shop that will clone and upgrade the disk?

Has anyone taken a notebook in to 298 or WCC and had the guys clone and upgrade the disk?

Have a laptop that I am keen to upgrade the disk but don't need the headaches of reinstalling everything.

But I'll need something to power and connect the old drive to the computer when the new drive is online. This comp does not have a DVD or floppy.

shri is your old drive sata or IDE?

for IDE you can come over to office/lab and we do it whilst you watch.

I think we flipped all boxes that have sata.

What brand of laptop is this? Some are very very picky and can't be ghosted unless you use a desktop with the same controller.

Thanks guys. Sorted it out with an external USB hard drive case which I had and HD Clone

Miray Software - HDClone - Hard disk copy, hard disk backup, hard disk rescue!

Awesome software .. ran in windows xp and cloned the drive in 40 mins / resized the partition to the size of the new drive.

I prefer ghost and using desktops to do that.


Ghost/VMware now has the facility to convert Ghost images into VMware machines which you can then upload to a VMware server. If you are like me, that you ned up using about 5 different PC, it is handy when you want to consolidate or reduce the number of workstations laptops on to a single fat machine.
