Germany and France re internet explorer

I'm sure you have read the news re the German and the French governments advising people not to use IE.

Any thoughts / views on this?

In any case, who here uses IE?

Also, if this was to happen in HK and there was a virus, do you think the HK government in a bid to protect the people would quarantine every computer running IE (naturally not to over react or anything)?

Nah, they would take the avian flu approach and "cull" every computer in infected areas.

I'm in favour of culling HK Internet users and starting again with imported ones.

I would love to delete IE from my system, but unfortunately my work applications will not work on anything else ... neither will etax .... a real pity!

Firefox + IE Tab works quite well, IE is still required but mostly stays in the background

That does not sound right. I have been logging in to my eTax account using Firefox for at least a year if not two.

Can't delete IE from the system but you can remove the shortcuts from sight, like the Quicklaunch bar and the desktop. Of course it doesn't help that some apps require IE to perform certain tasks.

Now if only French & German government and business extranets could support non-MSIE browsers.
