    US Wireless Router in HK

As the name suggests, can I use my US wirelsss router in HK?

This is my router - it is 12vas and can take 110v- 240v so assume this can be taken car of with either a new cord of converter, but is there any differnce in the type of telephone cords or wifi signal?

well you don't use telephone with a router (unless its a wifi / voip phone) and there isn't a different in wifi technology between the us and hk.

you should be fine, just need a plug converter.

You would with a DSL Modem Router which is quite popular outside these shores.

With PCCW you will probably get both a modem and router with wireless being optional. You have to use their modem if you want to watch Now TV. Wireless routers can be picked up from very cheap ~HK$300 to expensive (Apple Airport).

Yes if it is a DSL modem router then you might have a few issues trying to connect it to PCCW or other ISP in Hong Kong.

But a plain wireless router will work here fine. There are some channel differences in different countries. eg Some countries allow only 1-11 channels to be used and others have 1-15. But they overlap so it is not a problem. Even then, it only might be a problem if you used a laptop (or wireless card) bought in HK with a wireless router that was bought in US.
