    Anyone using Magicjack?

Just wondering if anyone is currently using Magicjack here in HK and what are your impressions.

I would like to know as well. I used one when while living in the UK to communicate back and forth with friends and family from the US

I ordered a few of them and will be testing them on Thursday when I get back to Texas. I will also test them when I get back to HK and let you know.
Several of my friends currently deployed in Baghdad are using it and they seem to work fine.

Update on the magic jack. I've been using it here in HK for the past 3 weeks. Works great. I set up a Florida, US phone number before I left. All my friends and family have been able to call me with out any issues. The phone will even ring when my computer goes into sleep mode. I highly reccomend it.

I really can't say the same. I would only say it is okay. There are usually delays and echos for me. Things get a lot better if you turn off NOWTV if you have it. It is more of an issue of the latency back to North America. My MagicJack connects to a server in Dallas, and I am going to bet that most of the problem is coming from server load on both ends.

I have another VOIP set up now which works a lot better, but it was about $80. The MJs can be purchased off eBay for ~$30US shipped to HK. I brought mine with me when I came over though.

I have one and it works great. I've been using it for over a year.

Same here. I ordered a bunch a few months ago and set them up with Texas numbers. I passed them around to family in HK, Macau and China and they have all been using them with no issues whatsoever.

Do they sell these locally in HK? Or every MJ needs to be ordered in US?
