Apple monitor repairs

I have a rather old (still nice) apple monitor that has developed a 'backlight' problem (according the clever flashing of the power-button)

Any idea where to get an apple monitor repaired? I'm in HV and the monitor is heavy so appreciate somewhere on the Island

Why are apple monitors so much heavier than standard black monitors?
Am I imagining that

Contact support through apple.com/hk was the only place I could get a repair on my Apple Cinema HD.
