I haven't seen many pictures of the Mili so I can't comment on that, but I have owned a Mophie battery pack for the iPhone 3G before. The top slides off and is not a connected flip-top.
In these Engadget photos, it looks to be a slide top as well and if so, then it's not bad. I personally didn't have any problems with the top sliding off unexpectedly.
In the meantime, the Zagg Sparq looks interesting. Supposedly can recharge the iPhone up to 4 times.

Better to avoid screen protectors, the glass won't scratch anyway and you will lose the wow effect from the Retina Display. If you really want one, have a look on the SGP films, like the Oleophobic one..
