Texting on pay as you go mobiles in HK

    Texting on pay as you go mobiles in HK

    Is it possilbe to text on the pay as you go sim cards that the sell in HK. Topping up is usually adding minutes to you call time rather than money. If so, how will they charge for this?
    Thanks for any help.

    Usually a dollar or two a message taken out from your balance.

    Just check with your provider's web site.

    For example, PEOPLE's SV SIM charges are:

    SMS within Peoples network: $0.3
    SMS outside People network: $0.7
    SMS international: $1.8

    (BTW Peoples has the best stored value prices)

    I thought Orange was the cheapest one around....or even Sunday..

    Btw, CSL's stored value SIM charges HK$0.50 for each SMS (both within and outside its network).

    Might have changed since I last bought a stored value SIM. But when I did, Peoples was significantly cheaper than anyone, including Orange. Who knows though; these prices change so much all the time.
