Android US and HK markets?

I'm thinking of buying an HTC Desire for my brother in HK but he'll be going to the US soon. So I just wanted to know, if I slap a US sim card in there will he be able to have full US Android functionality (including access to the US Android market)?

Not exactly the same situation but I purchased an HTC Hero in HK and when in the UK (With UK SIM) I have access to the full UK Android market.

I would think it would be the same in the US??

Yes the restriction is with the sim card not the phone so if you buy an unlock android phone in Hong Kong and use a US sim you shouldn't have any problem accessing the US Android market
