    iPhone 4 vs. Samsung Galaxy S (THREE NETWORK)

    Thinking about getting a smartphone...I'm pretty familiar with the specs of both phones. I'm more interested to hear what the 3G service is like with THREE. Does anyone have any experience using 3G on the iPhone 4 or Samsung Galaxy S on the THREE network? I'm interested what the connection is like around Tung Chung and along the Tung Chung MTR Line.

    I currently on a 2G phone and pretty happy with the reception I get from THREE.

    I find the 3G service by THREE HK to be pretty bad. With the exception of HK Island and Kowloon, it is spotty at best. Often even when I appear to have a strong signal, browsing is painfully slow or even impossible. It has progressively got worse and worse over the last 2 years so I suspect their network is getting overloaded, and they are failing to add capacity. My wife's phone is on SMV and she seems to have much more reliable 3G service. Others have told me that CSL has the best 3G network in HK.

    All as good or as bad as each other nowadays. Just do a search for real life experience. Horror stories abound on all providers as well as the good.

    One good reason to check out PCCW is for the 6000 wifi hotspots that are also covered in the 3g plan.

    PCCW have very bad customer service. I have SMV and in tung chung works as good as in hk island.

    I had a contract with pccw 2 years ago for mobile and broadband. Every time i call for help, their feedback is very bad, not very useful and careless. many times they had to restart something on their server because email wasn't working..

    sounds like acceptable bad service, unfortunately.
    same story with most any utility.
