buy a basic (not smartphone) phone in HK and use it in US

    hey guys,

Im gonna buy a basic and cheap cell phone in HK and use it in US. I am not looking for any smartphone. basically, a dumb phone with loud ringtones is perfect.
How do I know it works with the network carrier T-moblie in the U.S.?

    Thank you.

The US uses a different system, doesn't it? And its limited GSM is on a different Mhz spectrum, right? So a multi-band phone would be necessary?

Should work fine as long as you dont need data. I used iphone 1 here and 3 network only uses edge or whatever the slowest one is, not even 2g which is super slow.

AT&T and T-Mobile are the two big GSM carriers. You are probably better to buy a quad band phone or something to cover all bases.

I brought my basic unlocked phone (Sony Ericsson W810i) that I use for T-Mobile in the States and it works here.
