    Best plan for iPhone 5

    Hi,

Need quick advise from all the experts here - is it better to purchase iPhone 5 without signing any plan? I just checked the rates offered by Smartone and CSL, both are offering pretty good deals with Smartone slightly cheaper compared to CSL. I'm looking at 32GB which cost HK$2380 with $248 plan with Smartone and HK$3058 with $217 plan with CSL.

I'm currently on CSL and is happy with the speed, etc but never really understand how the charges work...i signed up with 100++ plan but my monthly bills are always above $250 though i'm a relatively low user.

Any advises is much appreciated! Thanks!

I'm a iPhone 5 user, I was the pioneer to sign up 64GB when it was launched. However, I had balance contract from iPhone 4 and the upgrade to 5, had inevitably extended my agreement to 50 months!!!! I can't dig that.

I wanted to be the first to have it, without considering the total cost.

That was six months ago. Today, my advise for you is: BUY THE PHONE, use free wifi to access Internet; so sign up the lowest plan. It's cheaper that way.

Unless, you want to compete to get the iPhone 5S above everyone, then the contract is the way.

Should be 36 months to be exact, after challenging 3-Hutchison that 50 months was wrongly dictated (they had input previous contract from Nokia without my knowledge). Creep!

IMO its always best to buy your phone without contract. If you shop around many companies offer unlimited data for under $100, new world mobile, three, China mobile. Its usually speed capped but fine if most of the time you are just checking email or whatsapp

If you buy the phone outright, and aren't fussed about LTE speeds then Smartone do a 6 month contract at $68 a month for unlimited 3G data.
