How to get rid of U.S. cell phone... but forward text msgs as well as calls?

Hello.

Is there a voip or other service that will forward *text messages* as well as calls inexpensively from the U.S. to Hong Kong?

I would like to ditch AT&T but keep my U.S. cell number and the ability to keep receiving calls as well as texts on that number while I'm here in HK. Vonage would allow me to port my cell number, and its international plan permits call forwarding to my HK mobile for free. BUT: Vonage doesn't do texts. If you text a Vonage line forwarding to your cell phone, you think the text went through even though it is not received.

I also looked up Google voice/text, and that doesn't forward internationally at all.

get a dual sim phone (which accepts us 3g data, most do) or a second phone (if ur using cdma, nothing outside hk is compatible), keep ur us number in one, while hk data sim in another, get a data plan in HK, use the app whatsapp ( most common app for messaging, wil make sms obsolete) for text, send photo, even send files, and viber for cheap calls (voip), get the other people in US to download and use the same apps
