The choice is very limited between slow and flaky PCCW or faster but more expensive 4G with capped or 'fair usage' restriction.

I've had really good service on 3 HK's 3G prepaid mobile broadband package in Mui Wo - much faster speeds than PCCW ADSL - but data capped in terms of volume, after which they throttle down the speed tremendously to about GPRS speed.
I bet you can only use PCCW in Mui Wo
Im on the 3 HK 3G prepaid plan: http://www.three.com.hk/website/appm...51001&lang=eng
It's the $198HKD prepaid sim and costs about $186 a month for 3G data
Getting a speed of 6.4mps down and 1.6mps in a speed test in mui wo on an iPhone 5

On the HKBN website there are actually a couple of addresses that are listed as having HKBN broadband - in Mui Wo Town and on the Rural Committee Rd. Not sure if this is actually true, but it seems no-one is willing to roll out fibre in village areas... Too much red tape for laying lines or not enough high density buildings to recoup the cost.
