not terribly overpriced, nevertheless, marginal pricey, it's probably cost twice as universal portable charger, but the fact that universal portable chargers involve clumbersome cable connection to your phone (aka life support system) which ain't exactly that portable

even standard original batteries (from sony HK$320, htc HK$350 and Samsung HK$360) cost marginally than reputable branded portable charger especially if the capacity (Mah) compared to portable chargers.

It is really expensive, but that's what happens when you get a really specialist product that's the only option for a particular phone (haven't seen any other extender packs for the N5). Look at Lifestyle or Otterbox cases for iPhones- much bigger market, much lower tech (just plastic) and they cost USD50-70.

I've done a semi-DIY N5 charger which is fugly and cumbersome. So cumbersome that I have only used it once. It still came out to USD50- quality lithium cells are expensive.

diy job battery pack with some polymorph/sugru? that would be nice to see

I think you can wallet style case, some polymorph and superglue as the portable charger adaptor for the wallet and slim battery charger, the battery will be adjacent to the exterior to the case

however, beware of non branded batteries, some have caught on fire, I will would only go for decent branded ones ( not worth killing a HK$4k + phone) from HK$250 plus

Nothing so creative. WECL in SSP carries a shell that takes 18650 Li rechargables and outputs enough current to charge a smartphone. So it's like a much larger than usual Lipo battery pack. The only advantage is that you can reuse the cells for other things (which I do).

Those Powerbank units look quite nice. Not really for me though- they look a bit fragile for Lipos. The upside of 18650s is that they are Li ions so less likely to catch fire and I don't worry about them as much.

I am fairly wary of any lithum-based rechargeable chemistry. I've had >50% of my cheap Chinese Li ions packs go bad, including what I had (probably incorrectly) assumed were Sanyos from SSP.

Read carefully, I wrote 'looked like' and not 'is'. There is a subtle difference easy to overlook to the inexperienced eye.

    Let me elaborate:

The website has a 'Paypal Verified' logo. That logo must be linked to Paypal. It is not. It's only an image linked the store. Same for the 'GoDaddy.com Secured' logo.

I am triple careful if any security logos are faked and would certainly not patronize those stores.

Other then that the store looks OK. They should fix that issue ASAP. Anyway, their power products are difficult to ship anyway because of the IATA Li-Ion ban. Seems they must use FeDEX, which will REALLY have a steep shipping cost. Non Li-Ion are of course no problem.

Why blind? I saw what I saw..... There are clear rules how 3rd party logos are to be used. And they didn't.

I'd rather buy a general purpose battery pack that is more general purpose, works with more devices, cheaper and more power. i.e. I paid $500 for a 5600mAh battery that looks like a thinner iPhone 5S

Hmm. Swipe and click on iOS. Hold power button and then click on Android.

Well, just an update... I finally went with THIS --- the GS4 the other day. Installed Cyanogen 10.2.1 on it and BAM!!!--- perfect phone. I must say... the GS4 feels great in the hand... and that screen is gorgeous... makes my HTC One feel washed out.

Sorry for hijacking this Nexus 5 thread... I was deciding between the two.
