"You can’t buy devices on Google Play in the following regions:

Hong Kong: Sha Tau Kok, Ta Kwu Ling, Man Kam To, Mai Po, Lok Ma Chau, Closed area, Lo Wu, Po Toi, Tung Lung Chau, Grass Island, Crooked Island (Kat O), Tung Ping Chau, Mui Wo, Lamma Island, Peng Chau, Cheung Chau, Tai O, Lantau Island"

    I wonder why...

probably as they rely on local couriers, restricted areas such as sha tau kok are not easy to arrange couriers, while the island destinations is rather difficult as well as time consuming/costly for any courier to arrange - not worth the bother.

note ikea has similar restrictions or the islands delivery cost is significant more

Instead of having such silly total exclusions from sale they could've just designated a pick-up point as an alternative to delivery. Googlers may slap each other in the back for their above-average collective IQ, but sometimes they seem quite irrational.

In any case the Moto G isn't even available through the US-centric Play store.

According to eprice.com.hk the Moto G will go on sale on Jan 21 (next Tuesday) in Hong Kong, with the 16 GB dual-sim priced at HK$1,898 and the back covers HK$118 and the flip covers HK$278.

The local price for 16 GB dual-sim is approx. US$45 more than the the single-sim variant in the US (US$199).

Personally, I don't think that's a rip-off but neither is it the game-changer that would've made Motogoo a somebody outside the US again.
