    CDMA in HK

I'll be moving to HK soon and want to know if I can make my Verizon phone work on a plan there or do I need something else? What network would be preferable?

If it's a CDMA2000 phone then basically no, as far as I'm aware.

If it's a 3G/4G phone then you may need to get it unlocked, but otherwise yes.

if cdma only, extremely unlikely, also most us phones are carrier locked and some can't even be unlocked ( or extremely difficult)

    what phone do you have?

Basically, end your Verizon contract, buy yourself a phone when you are in HK to run on the GSM network. It will also work in the USA (but on TMobile or AT&T)??

Verizon phones are a pain in the backside, I deal with about half a dozen a week, and they don't end well.

Even if they are unlocked they are a pain. You need to be physically getting a signal from one of their signal masts when you turn on the phone, that means being in the US, after that you can bang in any sim card you want.
