Samsung suspends sales of Galaxy Note 7 amid explosive battery reports.
Checking it would be more dangerous, if a fire started in the cargo area it could easily become out of control before anyone noticed it. It is much safer for these phones as well as any other Li ion batteries to be carried in the passenger area of the plane.Original Post Deleted
A replacement Note 7 started smoking on a flight. Not good.
Replacement Samsung Note 7 phone emits smoke on U.S. plane: family | Reuters
did they rush this product to compete with iphone 7 plus ? the recall was farce as well, lessons will be learnt, but they will survive this ordeal as samsung are the market leaders
if snapdragon 810 overheating ( but has failsafe to prevent hazard issues) was 2015 drama which samsung avoided by using their own Exynos system on a chip, then the fiasco with their note 7 was 2016
Not a Samsung user myself, but I think this could have happened to any other mobile phone manufacturer. None can be complacent. And hopefully after this, none will be.
Has anyone else seen all the torture/gunshot tests done on samsung vs iphone?
Bullet shot through Samsung phones will chemically react and cause it to heat up whereas apple phones will not.
Visually looking at it, perhaps Apple does fundamentally make safer batteries and that Note 7 isn't a one-off incident.
probably the fact, some batteries even internals still have a thick metal protective casing as oppose thin aluminium wrap which basically space and weight.
but potentially, all lithium batteries react/violently oxide in contact with air and hence why they catch fire.
it's noted that removeable batteries have the thickest casing and that makes them bulky
