HSPA in Hong kong (PCCW,3,smartone,etc)

Hello everyone!,
Since I don’t want to waste my 3 hours of commuting time everyday, I decided to get myself a HASP plan so I can browse the net in MR.
I only discovered 3 providers that offer this kind of service; PCCW, 3 and Smart one. I'm wondering if anyone here are using any of these plans and it will be appreciated if you can provide us with some feedbacks

(I.e. connectivity, speed within MR. during rush hours, etc).

Just to clarify, by "MR" you mean what? The MTR (subway)?

If so, have you actually travelled on it yet during the rush hours? I would have thought you would be crush-loaded too tight to be able to do any useful browsing. And you'll certainly have people reading over your shoulder, so you wouldn't want to be doing anything personal or sensitive.

Privacy isn't a problem on the MTR- I have yet to notice anyone peering over my shoulder when looking on the net through a blackberry.

I only use the MTR on weekends (so fairly, but not horrendously crowded) and 3G access speeds are fairly reasonable. I don't actually know what HASP stands for

Do people really browse the net for 90 minutes at a stretch on a Blackberry-sized screen? I can't conceive of doing anything except some urgent factual look up on something like that. Even moving from a 21 inch screen to my 15 inch laptop feels cramped. I was assuming that the OP would be using at least an eee or a laptop.

yes i been on the MTR, luckly for me I'll be taking the train from TST to Lo Wu. This mean that i'll guarantee a seat as TST is the first stop.

So does regular UMTS/3G. Obviously at somewhat lower speeds, but not fundamentally different.

same concept but suppose to be "MUCH" faster and is meant to be used on a Laptop.

i think:

3G=3 Mbps
HSPA/HSPDA= 7.2Mbps

Actually there is no difference in that respect - I use HSPA on my BB Bold and HTC Touch Pro and have been using standard 3G on my laptop for quite a while. Effectively the same thing - just a bigger pipe.

The Blackberry is a bit painful to use with most of the web, but some news sites (e.g. the BBC) are optimised for small screens. Not exactly the kind of thing you'd want to stare at for 90 minutes, but it's good enough for occasional use. I wouldn't even want to be using an eeePC screen for a full 90 minute trip.

so as far as speed wise when surfing the web; 3G and HSPA are pretty much the same????
