I'll be moving to Sun Lung Wai, close to Tai Tei Tong, in a month. Does anyone know what the home Internet situation is there? Should I go for a broadband connection or tether data from my cell phone?
Thanks

Join the Mui Wo to Tai O Families facebook group and ask there (Its used by everyone not just families)
Great suggestion. Thanks!
Check coverage of Netvigator who usually are the only ones providing service to rural areas, look for the house or area you want to move to, click on some random houses and see what internet max speed you can get.

OP - did you find the answer to this?
I don't live in the villages but am interested nonetheless. Out by the pier area, PCCW are the sole provider to those residential blocks though you'll notice HGC do have manhole covers so I suspect the infrastructure is there. In fact I know it is: our building has applied and it's "in progress". However those cables were likely laid for the villages initially... I know there was a partner provider offering fast Internet in the villages ("top" something) and I vaguely recall they piggy back off HGC.
(The irony that village houses now have faster internet access than the building blocks "downtown").
Netvigator should have fibre coverage to the government housing blocks now, and from what I gather slightly faster internet in some of the villages too. Down here, we're still stuck with shitty ADSL that chokes at 512k upstream. (Plug in your phone and watch everything die when the devices start backing up)
A friend in a village there has 1gbit fibre from HGC but i believe it is in a different area of mui wo
So, the particular house or area that we are moving to does not have fiber optic capabilities, and the only option is via Netvigator. So, on the advice of our real estate agent, we are looking to sign up with 3's unlimited data plan and sticking the SIM card in a SIM card router.
China Mobile offers a cheaper unlimited data plan, but apparently China Mobile's connection in MW is not great.
Has anyone tried this out before?
