    Birdie with ETS license

While confronting mobile offerings I was drawn to Birdie. I have read many posts about it on this forum but what caught my attention is it’s missing in the list of MVNOs (1). ToS and Privacy statements all refer to a Birdie Mobile Ltd so is not a trade name only. Searching by name it appears to have an ETS license with the following description on the Communications Authority website:

"ETS" refer to public telecommunications services for communications between one point in Hong Kong and one point outside Hong Kong, or between two points outside Hong Kong but routed in transit via Hong Kong. Typical examples include international direct dialing (IDD) service and international call forwarding service (ICFS). Service providers are licensed under SBO licence for Class 3 (ETS) service.”

that may apply to the new Travel SIM only. I found it odd. Thoughts?

Don't know the ins and outs of Birdie, but it seems to be owned by Smartone.

On its about us page on its website it says it has a Class Licence Number: CLOTS0000013.

Have no idea what that means.

Even the relatively unknown Future Power holds both MVNO and ETS licenses.
