Birdie Mobile Number Assignment - Number completely used?

Turns out Birdie gives out recycled numbers. Guy who previously owned my number signed up for basically everything - Carousell, HKTV, Octopus card, whatever.

It's been a pain going back and forth with customer support for various services trying to get this number disconnected from a dated account.

Additionally, I keep getting random spam calls and "#Antbank" texts at minimum twice a day.

According to Birdie, I can request a new number at the start of the cycle but there's no guarantee I wouldn't run into similar issues. Any advice here? Is my experience common? I'm trying to figure out the probability of getting a FRESHER number if I go through with it.

If you are on an Android phone you can block messages and calls quite easily and report them as spam.

No clue how you could be guaranteed to get a clean number .. just saying you can quite easily block spam calls and texts

It sounds like you just got unlucky with that number. I'd skip the aggravation and get a new number. I don't think your particular experience is super common

I also had this problem but luckily it was before "phone number as identity" was common. I kept receiving phone calls from Thai people and my own profile pic was a Thai lady on some services. I still get random Thai people as friend suggestions on Facebook.
