Apple always does shitting job in customer care that same happen on iPod and other products, they are the far worse vendor in term of aftersale service.

If you are looking for repair, many shops in 298 Computer center in Wanchai. But avoid iphone DOCTOR shop on the ground/first floor. The shop sales person is Kit. He s a scam. he ll pretend to keep your phone for couple of days. Saying he ll fix many components. The phone indeed worked but then when we went right after to another shop of "tuning" they found out everything he said he replaced was not. Impossible to get the money back although we clearly proved it. So beware for any repair, it s better to stay around those guys. Or go to a shop recommended by a friend.

FYI - I inquired how much to replace a battery on an iPhone 3G our of warranty at the Apple store and it was $618. They will inspect for water damage - if none, then they will swap it for a refurbished one (ie new case and battery). Pretty good deal I think!
