The link I posted above has plamsa 50 inch TV's for around HK$9000. So I am also confused about the $42,000 difference. You might have added a couple of zeros on the end.

Well if you are talking of 65" then the only one listed on Fortress website is the Sharp, which costs 144K. There could well be a price difference of about 30-40K from the US.

Main reason being, I think units of 50" + don't sell well out here, so that whole supply/demand thing works into pricing factor.

Now if you talk about 40" and under, then there wouldn't be a great big difference in pricing, I would think.

Check eCOX Electronic Depot 電器資訊網 - www.eCOX.com.hk

If you give them a HK model number, they will give you back a quote which is cheaper than the list price that you see on Fortress website.

    Priced a 65" 3D Panasonic here in the US at $US3500 (3500 X 7.76 = $HK27,160). A Panasonic 60" Plasma (not 3D) from Fortress is listed at $HK64,800).

I stand corrected, that's only $37,640 difference. Still.

However, there is a good selection for the 50" in the $10,000 price range. Especially on the website you recommended!

I too am moving into a new place and need a TV, looking at 42-50".

Tried some of the links but the price comparison website is not in English unfortunately. The other one doesn't have prices, you have to call, so I'm a little dubious.

On the one hand I don't want to pay over the odds at Fortress or Broadway, on the other hand I don't want to get ripped off or get a dodgy ex display or refurbed model.
